This TV suits gamers and movie fans who want a large, high-contrast screen. The 120Hz refresh rate and support for NVIDIA G-SYNC or AMD FreeSync Premium make it a strong choice for console and PC gaming. The OLED panel is perfect for viewers who watch in dimly lit rooms, as it offers true black levels. If you value accurate colors validated by Pantone and want AI-driven upscaling for older content, this 77-inch model fits your setup well.
Who can skip it
You should look elsewhere if you need a small TV, as this model starts at 48 inches and is 77 inches wide. Key specs explained
Display Technology: OLED
OLED panels use individual pixels that can turn off completely. This creates true black levels and infinite contrast ratios. You get deep shadows and bright highlights in the same frame. This technology is ideal for dark rooms or movie nights. It offers better viewing angles than LED screens, keeping colors consistent from the side. Choose this if you prioritize picture depth and contrast over peak brightness for very bright spaces.
Resolution: 4K
4K resolution provides approximately 8.3 million pixels, four times the detail of standard HD. This sharpness ensures clear text and fine textures on a large 77-inch screen. You will see more detail in nature scenes and urban environments. It is the current standard for modern content, including streaming services and gaming consoles. If you sit closer to a large screen, this resolution prevents pixelation and keeps images crisp.
Refresh Rate: 120Hz
A 120Hz refresh rate updates the image 120 times per second. This creates smoother motion for fast-paced content like sports or action movies. For gamers, it supports smoother gameplay with less motion blur. It pairs well with modern gaming consoles and PCs that output high frame rates. If you watch lots of live sports or play competitive games, this higher rate reduces stuttering and makes movement look more natural.
Screen Size: 77 Inch
A 77-inch diagonal measurement offers a massive viewing area for immersive experiences. This size fills your peripheral vision, drawing you into the content. It works best in larger living rooms or dedicated home theaters. Ensure you have enough viewing distance to avoid eye strain. Compared to smaller TVs, this size delivers a more cinematic feel. Measure your wall space carefully to ensure the TV fits your room layout comfortably.
Design and Build Overview
According to the listing, the Samsung 77-Inch S85H Series measures 67.8 inches wide, 41.7 inches high, and 13 inches deep. It weighs 63.5 pounds. These dimensions define the physical footprint you need for your space. The 13-inch depth is notable for an OLED panel, suggesting a specific mounting or stand clearance requirement. You should verify your wall mount or entertainment center supports this weight and size before installation.
The model number QN77S85HAEXZA identifies this specific 77-inch variant. The finish is described as Graphite Black. This color choice helps the bezel blend into darker room environments, reducing visual distraction during viewing. The design prioritizes a sleek, modern aesthetic that complements contemporary living spaces. The substantial width requires a wide surface or robust wall mount to ensure stability.
Samsung offers this model in five different screen sizes, ranging from 48 to 83 inches. The height varies accordingly, from 26.9 inches for the smallest to 44.5 inches for the largest. This lineup allows you to choose a display that fits your room’s proportions. For the 77-inch version, the balance between screen real estate and physical size is significant. Ensure your viewing distance accommodates this large format for optimal comfort. The build specifications indicate a premium, substantial unit designed for dedicated media areas.
Setup And Everyday Use Guide
Setting up this TV begins with placing the 67.8-inch wide panel in your viewing area. The 13-inch depth requires adequate space behind the screen for cables and ventilation. You will need to mount or stand the 63.5-pound unit securely, as the graphite black finish demands careful handling to avoid scratches.
Once powered on, the NQ4 AI Gen2 processor manages the visual output. It analyzes content in real time to enhance brightness and color accuracy. The OLED HDR format ensures deep blacks and bold highlights, which the processor optimizes for each scene. You do not need to manually adjust settings for basic viewing, as the AI handles upscaling to 4K resolution automatically.
For gaming, the 120Hz refresh rate and Motion Xcelerator technology reduce latency. The TV supports NVIDIA G-SYNC and AMD FreeSync Premium, which helps prevent screen tearing during fast-paced action. This makes the display responsive for console and PC gaming without requiring additional hardware.
Daily use is straightforward. The Pantone validation ensures skin tones and colors remain realistic, which simplifies color calibration for movies and shows. The Color Booster Pro feature enhances hues dynamically, so you get vibrant visuals without manual tweaking. The smart interface runs on Samsung’s platform, providing access to streaming apps and content. You can switch between sources seamlessly, as the processor manages input signals efficiently. The 4K AI upscaling improves lower-resolution content, making standard definition broadcasts look sharper. This setup requires minimal effort, allowing you to focus on the content rather than configuration.
